Agero is a B2B, white-label provider of digital driver assistance services, dispatching roadside assistance (tows, jump starts, lockouts) on behalf of automakers and insurers.

What Agero actually says

“Secure high speed internet connection, must be hardwired internet connection to a modem/router... Minimum upload speed of 6 Mbps, minimum download speed of 15 Mbps, and a maximum latency of 80-100 ms. Mobile hotspots, wi-fi connections, satellite internet, and usb tethering are NOT allowed.”— Agero — Remote Response Associate, Roadside Assistance Customer Service Representative (job posting) · source

What passes for Agero

A wired connection — fiber, cable, or DSL — with an Ethernet cable from your computer to the router. Fiber is the strongest fit: upload speed matches download, latency stays low and consistent, and weather doesn't affect it.

If you're on satellite, a cellular hotspot, or 5G home internet, no speed test will get you past Agero's rule — the connection type is what's being checked. The fix is a wired line, installed with the Ethernet connection in the room where you'll work.

Before your Agero tech check

  1. Confirm a wired provider reaches your address.
  2. Run Ethernet to your workspace — not just to the router's room.
  3. Turn off Wi-Fi and any VPN on the work computer.
  4. Run a speed test on the wired line (target: at least 15 Mbps down / 6 Mbps up) and screenshot it.

Agero internet questions, answered

Agero permits Wi-Fi on some programs, but the connectivity scan during onboarding is run on a wired connection. Plan for Ethernet at the desk.

At least 15 Mbps download and 6 Mbps upload, with latency at or below 100 ms. The exact minimum can vary by client program, so confirm against the job listing you are applying to.

Agero does not publish a blanket exclusion on satellite, but the speed and latency minimums still apply and satellite often fails the latency test.

Agero does not name hotspots as prohibited, but cellular service shares tower capacity and is a common cause of a failed connectivity scan.
