ibex internet requirements for work-from-home jobs

Does your address qualify for ibex?
We check the real network at your exact address — not a coverage map — and tell you straight either way.
ibex is a global BPO running work-at-home customer service and healthcare member-services programs. Its postings name the accepted connection type and name what is banned in the same sentence: hardwired Ethernet only, with 5G, hotspots, and satellite called out by name as unsupported.
What ibex actually says
“Must have a private, distraction-free workspace that is not located in a shared or common area of the home. Must have a hard-wired Ethernet internet connection with minimum speeds of 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload. (5G, hotspots, and satellite internet are not supported.) Must remain on camera during working hours.”— ibex job posting — Member Services Customer Support · source
ibex also requires staying on camera for the full shift, which is unusual among the BPOs on this site — most only require a webcam for training. This posting is limited to a specific list of eligible states (AL, AR, DE, FL, GA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MI, NC, OH, OK, PA, SC, TN, TX, VA, WV, WI, WY); other ibex programs may hire in different states.
What passes for ibex
A wired connection — fiber, cable, or DSL — with an Ethernet cable from your computer to the router. Fiber is the strongest fit: upload speed matches download, latency stays low and consistent, and weather doesn't affect it.
If you're on satellite, a cellular hotspot, or 5G home internet, no speed test will get you past ibex's rule — the connection type is what's being checked. The fix is a wired line, installed with the Ethernet connection in the room where you'll work.

Before your ibex tech check
- Confirm a wired provider reaches your address.
- Run Ethernet to your workspace — not just to the router's room.
- Turn off Wi-Fi and any VPN on the work computer.
- Run a speed test on the wired line (target: at least 50 Mbps down / 10 Mbps up) and screenshot it.

ibex internet questions, answered
No. ibex requires your work computer to be connected to the router with an Ethernet cable. A strong Wi-Fi signal does not satisfy the rule, because the check looks at how the computer is connected rather than how fast the line is.
At least 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload. The exact minimum can vary by client program, so confirm against the job listing you are applying to.
No. ibex excludes satellite service by policy, regardless of the speeds it delivers. This is a rule about connection type, so no speed test will get you past it.
No. Hotspots and 5G home internet are cellular services that share capacity on a tower, so ibex cannot guarantee a shift on them. They are excluded even when a speed test looks good.
